OUR ROOM 13 BUDDIES

Most Fridays we have the chance to meet with our buddies. We share our learning with them, and work on activities together. One of our activities was to work together to draw a dragon. We always look forward to seeing our buddies and like working with them.

Thanks Room 13....                              You are GREAT !!!!!!

VISIT FROM THE TOYMAN

During our study about toys and pastimes we had a visit from the Toyman. He showed us some toys from the past and we were allowed to play with them.
The toys were made out of wood.  Our favourite toy was the big marble run. It was interesting to see some of the toys our Grandparents and Great Grandparents would have played with.

GAMES OUR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS PLAYED

On the last day of term we tried playing some of the games that our parents and grandparents might have played. We played hula hoops, skipping, elastics, skittles, hop scotch and knuckle bones. We realised that we still play some of these games.
It was fun to learn some new games and activities, and it was a great way to finish our study about Toys and Pastimes.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES FROM THE PAST

As part of our study about toys and pastimes we have been looking at fun activities

people used to do in the past. When Mrs Hazeldine was little she used to live in

the country. Her school used to have a Flower Show and she would make sand

saucers. We had a go at making our own sand saucers. They were great fun to

make and looked bright and colourful.

EATING FRACTIONS

We have been learning about fractions. One day we made sandwiches. First we buttered our sandwich and then we were allowed to choose which topping we wanted to put on. Most of us wanted to have jam. Then we cut our sandwiches in halves and quarters. We know that all the pieces have to be the same.
Then we ate our fractions. Did you know that fractions taste yummy.

Looking After Our Water

Sally from Water Care came to talk to us about how we can help to keep our water clean.
We learnt about what happens to the rain and water that goes down the drain.
We know that we shouldn’t put paint, cooking oil, engine oil, food scraps
or detergent down our drains because it can pollute our waterways.

KITE FLYING

During science and technology week we met with our  buddies and helped them to fly the kites they had made. Some of us had made our own kites and flew them as well. It was fun to see all the different shapes and sizes of kites and how well they flew.
