SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY WEEK

Last week was science and technology week. We did experiments to find out if we could float a paper clip and how to melt ice. We measured how much rain there was over the week and graphed it. Some of us made kites as part of the homework challenge and we also made bubbles and watched how they moved in the wind. Science is great fun and we learned lots of new things.

RAIN FOREST EXPRESS

As part of our study on the water cycle we went on a trip to the Waitakere Ranges. We walked about 2kms through the forest to see the Upper Nihotupu Dam where some of the water we use is collected. On the way we saw rivers and waterfalls. We heard lots of birds singing as well. After lunch we went on the Rain Forest Express train. We went through lots of tunnels and over bridges. In the tunnels we saw wetas and beautiful twinkling glow worms. We arrived back at school happy and very tired.

FUN RUN

On the last day of Term 1 the whole school participated in a sponsored fun run to raise funds for our school. We all got sponsored by our family and friends and then we had to run around a course. Our buddies helped us and we all got to choose a prize.
It was fun but very tiring. Look at the photos of our run.

MASK MAKING

Last term we have had fun learning about masks from different cultures. We had a go at making our own masks. Don’t you think they look great.
